Abstract:
Soil organic carbon (SOC) is one of the largest and active carbon pools. Soils in Africa have lost 136 gigatonnes of carbon between 1850 and the late 1990s and 33 % of carbon lost was attributed to land degradation and soil erosion (UNEP, 2012).
